Homer F. Dale, 76, of East Wenatchee, passed away Friday evening September 3, 1999 while attending a church fellowship.

He was born on November 19, 1922, the eighth child of the Reverend John Albert and Maude L. (Richards) Dale at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was raised and schooled at Essex, MO and entered the U.S. Army in 1940. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland during W.W.II prior to his honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant in October of 1945. He received four Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. Following his discharge, he returned to the Boot Heel area of Missouri. He was married to Billie J. James on August 27, 1948 at Essex, MO. They moved to San Diego, CA in the early 1950s. He became a machinist for General Dynamics in San Diego and after 23 years, retired. In 1978, they moved to Wenatchee Heights where they owned and operated apple and cherry orchards.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billy J. Dale in May of 1991. He later sold their orchards and moved to East Wenatchee in 1994.

Homer was a member of Eastmont Baptist Church, where he had been an usher. He especially enjoyed western movies, watching the Mariners and baseball, the Seahawks and football and his pet dog, "Penny."

He is survived by one son, J. Ken Dale, East Wenatchee; one daughter, Mrs. Mike (Deborah) "Deb" Janz, Rosamond, CA, one brother, John S. Dale, Caruthersville, MO; two sisters, Bessie Crawford and Carolyn Kirby both of Cape Girardeau, MO and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie, his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Commemoration services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Eastmont Baptist Church, 330 N. Lyle, with the Rev. Bob Bauer officiating. Concluding services and the interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to the Eastmont Baptist Church, Growth Fund.
