William Carroll Messer, 29 of the Rices Creek Community died of injuries received in an automobile accident Wednesday January 25, 1956 at an Anderson Hospital.

Born in Buncombe County NC, to William Bryan and Annie Robinson Messer. He was a Veteran of World Was II, serving three years in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife Helen Lucille Patterson Messer; two sons, Eddie and Doug of the home; one daughter, Sandra of the home; one brother, J Thurman Messer of Liberty; three sisters, Mrs Juanita Pench of Greenville, Mrs. Genevia Kelly of Old fort, NC, and Mrs Eleanor Davila of Venezula, South America.

Funeral Services were conducted Saturday January 28, 1956 at 2 p.m. at Rices Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. E. G. Leopard, the Rev. H. A. Newton and the Rev. H. W. Ayers. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Felix Rogers Jr., T. D. Ramey, Hoid Durham, Johnny Durham, Carl Breazeale and Bill Waldrop.

Honorary escort were deacons of Rices Creek Baptist Church.

The family was at the home of his brother J. T. Messer and the body was taken there Friday at 4 p. m.
