QUAPAW (Special)-Mrs. Fred Gilmore who moved to this area from a Quapaw Indian reservation near Pine Bluff, Ark., 72 years ago, died at 4:15 a.m. today at her Quapaw home. She was 83.

Surviving are her husband; a son Orval Gilmore, Baxter Springs; two daughters, Mrs. Clara E. McCoy, Carthage, Mo., and Mrs. Thelma L. Blanchard, Galena, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. Anna Waid, Baxter Springs; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gilmore, the former Agnes Dardene, and her sister, Anna, came to Indian Territory from the Arkansas reservation in 1887. Seven years later Agnes Dardene and Fred Gilmore were the first couple to be married at historic St. Mary's church, which was located east of here. They were wed by the Rev. William H. Ketchum, a missionary to the Quapaws.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p m Wednesday at the Quapaw Methodist church with the Rev. C. C. Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Baxter Springs cemetery under direction of the Wene mortuary. The body will lie in state at the Wene chapel until shortly before the funeral hour.
