Julia Smith age 84 of Brown City died August 25, 2018. She was born in Peck on August 10, 1934 to Charles and Mary Belle (Wilson) Hunt. She graduated from Peck High School Class of 1952. Julia married Daniel Smith on April 16, 1956.
Julia was a farmers wife and mother who farmed along side her husband Daniel for over 40 years. She loved music and played in a band in her younger years. She also loved to dance and was a regular at the dances in Sandusky, Bad Axe and the Octagon Barn. She was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and enjoyed sharing hospitality among her neighbors and friends.
Julia is survived by her two daughters Debbie (Bill) Utter and Darla (Mike Hillman, four grandchildren; William (Melissa) Utter, Alicia (Tim) Woodruff, Tyler Utter and Michael Hillman, two great grandchildren Trentyn Woodruff and Will Utter. Also surviving is her good friend Bill McFarland and her furry companion Buddy.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters Lucille Hirons, Nora Elston and Erva Maitland and a brother Elmer Hunt.
The visitation will be Tuesday, August 28, 2018, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Carman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday August 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
