Mrs. Laura Mason Is Buried Today
Former Madison County Resident Died Yesterday At Fayetteville Home
Mrs. Laura Lawler Mason, 78, widow of Robert L. Mason, died yesterday afternoon at her home here. She had been in poor health for some time, but had been critically ill only two weeks. Funeral services were held this afternoon from the residence, with the Rev. Otis Welch, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, and the Rev. T. W. Mayhew, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Interment in Rose Hill cemetery was directed by Higgins funeral home. Officials of the First Presbyterian church served as active and honorary pallbearers.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Eakin Overall of Murfreesboro, Mrs. William Fowler of Huntsville, Mrs. Charley Strong of Fayetteville; one sister, Mrs. F. R. Beason of Decatur; one brother, B. B. Lawler of Brownsboro; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mason was a native of Madison County, born in the Maysville community, the daughter of James Henry Lawler and Mrs. Winnie Stone Lawler. She moved to Fayetteville as a bride, and in 1940 she and Mr. Mason celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church and a charter member of the local WCTU chapter. She was active in this and other phases of church work as long as her health permitted
