Harry Abbett, 77, Dies

Harry N. Abbett, 77, retired Cummins Engine company employe, died at 4 o'clock this morning at county hospital. He and his wife, Mrs. Mary L. Abbett, lived at 621 Maple Street.

Funeral rites will be held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Reed funeral home, conducted by Dr. T.K. Smith. Burial will be at City cemetery. Casket will be open at the funeral home after 1 o'clock Friday afternoon.

Survivors are the wife; two daughters, Mrs. Dale D. Devers and Mrs. Charles E. Boyd, both of Columbus; a sister, Mrs. Harry Carter of Columbus; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Abbett was born Sept. 5, 1883 in Jackson county to the late Charles and Flora Hulse Abbett. He lived most of his life in Columbus and was retired from Cummins Engine company seven years ago. He and his wife, the former Mary Ahlbrand, were married July 3, 1930.

Mr. Abbett had been in ill health two years and hospitalized two weeks.
