Mrs. Grace E. Thompson, 82, of Montezuma, died Nov. 9, 1983 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born Aug. 23,1901, in Ford County, the daughter of Samuel and Lettie Williams Burrell.
She grew up in Gray County. She and Jacob E. Thompson were married June 2, 1920, at Cimarron. They lived at Haggard for a short time and then moved to Montezuma. Mr. Thompson died April 16, 1960.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Copeland Christian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary of Montezuma and the National Auxiliary of 42nd (Rainbow) Division Veterans.
Survivors include six sons, Duane of Rialto, Calif., Loren of Barstow, Calif., Kenneth of Dallas, TX, Dwight of Brighton, Colo., Dean of Rochester, Minn., Keith of Strasburg, Colo., three daughters, Mrs. Audrey Dennis of Marlette, Mich., Mr. Joe (Nelda) Woodson of Penalosa and Mrs. Helen Sparks Alguirre of Olathe; two brothers, Everett Sugg of Pine Bluff, Ark. and Darrell Dern of Cimarron; 39 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
The funeral has been set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Montezuma Methodist Church with Walter Birney, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery of Montezuma. Family member suggested memorial contributions to the mission work of the Copeland Christian Church. Friends may call until until 9 p.m. today at Hulpieu-Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.
