Jessie E. Williams, 52, of East Wenatchee, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997, at Central Washington Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on Feb. 11, 1945, at Waiuku, New Zealand, to James and Ruby Cliffe. She was raised in Waiuku and graduated from Waiuku High School in New Zealand.

On March 7, 1964, Jessie married William Frederick "Bill" Williams at Waiuku. In July 1973, Jessie moved with her family to the United States, living in Memphis, Tenn., and Burns, Ore., before moving to Australia, where she lived in Tasmania and Queensland before returning to the United States in 1978.

Jessie and her family then lived in Leadville, Colo., before moving to Cashmere in 1980 and then to East Wenatchee where she has lived since.

Jessie worked as a staff accountant for Central Washington Hospital, Chamberlin Distributing and Arctic Refrigeration before her disease forced her retirement earlier this year.

Jessie was a godly and loyal wife and mother and a faithful and dedicated member of the New Testament Church and fellowshipped with the Cashmere Church of Christ.

Jessie is survived by her husband of 33 years, Bill; and her sons, Paul and Andrew; her sister, Gwenda Mark-Woods; and brother David Cliffe of New Zealand; also a brother, Fred Cliffe of Australia. She was preceded in death by her parents and in 1996 by her brother, Bobby Cliffe, of New Zealand.

Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
