Times – Leader June 23, 1938 Thomas Garrison, son of Seamon and Sylvania Garrison, was born June 21, 1858; departed this life June 16, 1938, at the age of 80 years, lacking five days. He was married to Mary Jane Hall in the year 1880. She preceded him in death on Jan. 23, 1938. Six children were born to this union, five girls and one son, Della Allen of Xenia, Ill., Dora Wilkins of Eldorado, Ill., Daisy Reed of Memphis, Tenn., Seamon of Garrison, and Docia and Dessie deceased. He also reared a granddaughter, Gladys, who preceded him in death in the year 1925. Mr. Garrison had been a lifelong resident of Aden, having lived on the same farm, where he died, for more than fifty years. He was a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need. He will be greatly missed in the home and in the community in which he lived. He leaves to mourn his passing, the children mentioned, 7 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; also one brother, Douglas of Aden, who lived near him. Mr. Garrison had been in poor health for about three years, having suffered a stroke and was confined to his bed most of the time, although he sat up in his chair for a while in the morning before he died. Death came suddenly and unexpectedly Wednesday night at about 2:30 o'clock at the home of his son, Seamon, who resides on the home place. He Is gone but not forgotten, Never will his memory fade. Sweetest thoughts will ever linger round the grave where he is laid. Funeral services were held at the Aden Church on June 17, conducted by Elder Hulbert Perry and Luke Clark. Interment in Garrison Cemetery.
