CARRIE M. NICODEMUS
83, of Martinsburg died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 1981, in Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg, after a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 29, 1898, in Fayette County, the daughter of Lowery and Pleasy (Deffibaugh) Provins, and was twice married, first on Dec. 24, 1915, to William E. Hinton, who died in 1939, then on Sept. 29, 1943, to John S. Nicodemus, who died in 1975.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Marian Dutrow of Duncansville and Mrs. Ruth Gordon and William L. Hinton of Martinsburg; three stepchildren, Oscar Nicodemus of Martinsburg RD, Mrs. Bert Shaw of Martinsburg and Mrs. Mildred Garber of Roaring Spring; 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Nicodemus was a member of the Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, and a former member of
the Martinsburg Civic Club.
Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. today in the John C. Bolger Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
NICODEMUS — Services for Carrie (Hinton) Nicodemus of Martinsburg will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the John C. Bolger Inc. Funeral Home, Martinsburg, by the Rev. Ken Holderread.
Interment in Spring Hope Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Mrs. Nicodemus was preceded in death by three children, Kenneth, Lois and Homer.
The family prefers memorials be made to the Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg.
