The Obituary was given to me by her great grand daughter.
Obituary:
Rachel A. Crowe, daughter of John and Mary A. Crowe, was born in Pike County, Ohio, April 15, 1850 and departed this life Thursday evening, March 14, 1918, aged 67 years, 10 months and 29 days. She was one of five children, three girls and two boys, of whom one brother, John, preceded her to the better land. Her childhood and early youth were spent quietly upon the farm where she received the advantages of Christian training which so evidenced its value in her later life. At the age of 19 she was united in marriage with Samuel Allen of her home county. To this union there were born 10 children, nine of who survive her. Her early married life was saddened by the death of her first child at the age of one month.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen moved from Ohio to Indiana in 1873, residing near Elwood until 1891, when they again moved, this time near Frankton, Indiana. They remained here until moving to Ingalls, Indiana in 1899.
Rachel leaves behind to mourn her absence, besides her husband, Samuel Allen, two sisters; Mrs. Elizabeth Sterling and Mrs. Lottie Cowley; one brother, William Crowe, and nine children; James Allen of Elwood; Mrs. Della Emmons of Ingalls; Harry Allen of Oklahoma, Mrs. Maud Bedford of Granit City, Illinois; Clinton Allen of Anderson, Indiana; Mrs. Nellie Hanson of Fairmount, Indiana; Charles Allen of Wheeling, West Virginia; Chester Allen of Pendleton, Indiana; and Mrs. Lucy Willhide of Upland, Indiana. Besides these she leaves 14 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
NOTE: Date: This is my great-aunt. I would love to talk with anyone who knows her. Please contact me.
