Jeptha Wiely Sumpter, 67, Monticello, died last Thursday, September 14, 1950 at Decatur-Macon County Hospital following a two-week illness. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 17 at Nancy, KY with burial in Lee Cemetery there. The body was at the Bauman Funeral Home here before being taken to Kentucky Saturday morning.
Mr. Sumpter was born at Nancy KY on March 30, 1883, s/o Joseph and Sifnora Sumpter. He married Lillie Adams in 1901. Surviving are his wife and eight children: Mrs. Ella Dalton, John and Otha, all of Nancy; Jesse of Bethany; Ray of Somerset KY; Homer, Guy and Mrs. Herman Allen, all of Decatur. He also leaves 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
