Steve was born April 8, 1953 in Shirley, MA and moved to Bloomfield, CT in 1955. He attended Bloomfield Public Schools, graduating from Bloomfield High School in 1971. Steve graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL in 1975, with a degree in Aviation Management.
Steve had a long time passion for aviation and made his first solo flight at the age of 15. He continued his passion with a professional career with the Federal Aviation Administration. Steve has enjoyed his occupation as an air traffic controller over the last 20 years, and has worked at several airports including Joplin, MO, Wichita Mid-Continent in Wichita, KS, Beverly, MA, Bradley International in Windsor Locks, CT, Bridgeport, CT, and at Kansas City International Airport in Kansas City, MO until his death.
Steve is survived by his wife Donna; a daughter, Leslie Jean Parrish of Austin, TX; three step-children, Jennifer Nees of Middletown, CT, Jason Nees of Kansas City, MO, and Brad Nees and his wife Heather of Seattle, WA, and three step-grandchildren; his mother, Lois A. Parrish of Bloomfield, CT; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and David Halbstein of Howell, NJ; father and mother-in-law Paul and Evelyn Wiederien of Carroll, IA; a niece, nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Harlan W. Parrish in 1988.
Steve was a cancer survivor and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
