Mr. Maggette died July 11 at Regional Memorial Hospital. Born Jan. 14, 1921 in Harlem, N.Y., he was a son of the late Lillian and Paul Maggette. His wife, Jane Alden Grant, preceded him in death on June 27. He was a member of Grady General Support League, Syrup City Arts Center, Bethlehem AME Church and Bethlehem AME Church choir. He attended Barringer High School in Newark, N.J., Morehouse University and Julliard School of Music. Survivors include daughters, Jean A. White (Andrew) of Plainfield, N.J., Rosalyn Maggette of Brooklyn, N.Y.; stepdaughter, Joanne Virginia Hill of Richmond, Va.; stepsons, Arthur LeRoy Smith of Plainfield, N.J., Fred Emanuel Smith of Winterpeg, Canada; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; special friends, Charles and Liz Braswell of Cairo; and a host of other friends. -- Cloud & Son Funeral Home
