Two sons: Clifton William Croushorn of Bealeton area (near Mt Carmel Baptist Church) and Shirley Lewis Croushorn of Nokesville, VA. The burial service was at Jehoash Presbyterian Church at Catlett, VA. where his family had long connections going back to the earliest years of the church; in fact, Uncle Bill was a member. He helped build the annex to the church in the 1970s. Obviously, he was named for his grandfather Wm Frederick Croushorn of the Shenandoah Valley.
Before coming to Bealeton area in Fauquier County in 1954, Bill and Hazel Croushorn had lived a number of years in Prince William County. He considered himself a former dairy farmer who later was known for building dairy barns in the 1950s and 1960s; later, he became known as a home builder. He was in great demand for his masterful carpentry work/creations. I remember his building my oldest brother's first home. Uncle Bill was expert at doing hard things well such as cabinetry, stairs and fireplaces.
At the time of his death, Uncle Bill had been married to Aunt Hazel for 64 years. Her full name is Hazel Mildred Brown Croushorn.
Two brothers died before him: Roscoe Clinton Croushorn and Charles Walter Croushorn. They were both farmers in Prince William County. His sister, Evalena Croushorn Heflin (my mother) died in December 1993. And his half-sister Sadie Croushorn Byers (born 1894, I think) died in 1949.
Grandchildren in 1997 were Steve and Jeff Croushorn and their sister Sharon Ward, children of Clifton; and James and Wayne Croushorn, sons of Shirley Croushorn.
Uncle Bill was one of the finest men I ever knew.
