Vernece Rene'e Cleveland, 52, Lincoln, Kansas, died Monday, November 8, 2004 at the Salina Regional Health Center Santa Fe Campus.
She was born on September 28, 1952 in St.Francis Kansas, the daughter of Vernon and Roberta Mae Walter Davis. Vernece was baptized at the Methodist Church.
She also lived in Alma, Kansas and Lincoln, Kansas.
Vernece was confirmed on May 30, 1971 at St.John Lutheran Church, Lincoln, and remained a member the rest of her life.
Vernece successfully studied hard for her GED. Vernece wa graduated from Brown Mackie in Salina and later worked for Kennedy and Doe. Later she studied at North Central Vo Tech School in Beloit and received her LPM degree. After a time she studied at Cloud County Community College and received her RN degree. Vernece loved the health care field and worked in Salina at the Asbury Intensive Care Unit, Lincoln County Hospital, Mid-America Health Center, Lincoln, and also worked as a traveling nurse in the Great Bend area. She treated them with care and dignity. She was described as compassionate, caring and loving in her nursing practice.
Vernece enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, and babysitting grandchildren. She collected bells and had a large collection ornamental porcelain and crystal bells.
Vernece had many good friends who were special to her. She will be missed by many people.
Survivors include her special friend, Harvey Roush, Lincoln, Kansas; one son, Jeff Meyer and his wife, Kitty, Lincoln, Kansas; one daughter Missy Hensley and her partner, Chris Roush, Lincoln, Kansas; her parents, Vernon and Roberta Mae Davis, Kanopolis, Kansas; her brother, Scott Davis and his wife, Linda, Kanopolis, Kansas; her sister, Rachelle Kobbeman and her husband, Shawn, Lincoln, Kansas; then grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were help Thursday,k November 11, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at St John Lutheran Church, Lincoln, Kansas with Rev. Gerald T. Radtke officiating. Burial was in the Lincoln City Cemetery.
