Appears to be duplicate of #23086868, but they are in different cemeteries & mine has a headstone photo & obit to back up burial location. Appears his wife's memorial was created on the same day as Robert Edward Lee Abbott #23086868 with no grave photo for proof. Just their assumption that he is buried there? He remarried. Melissie was quite young when she died.

NOTE: headstone DOB differs from passport application & draft registration. Grave photo was taken in Orange Grove cemetery, Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.

I have this person entered at Lawrence Chapel Cemetery. Your information is very similar, and Robert E. Lee Abbott's wife, Melissa Lawrence is buried at Lawrence Chapel. The Mayson and Abbott people are connected to Robert.

Robert Edward Lee Abbott, was named after Robert E. Lee (Gen.) who visited the Layne home in Williamson Co., TX. Melissa I. Lawrence was the daughter of William Laborn Lawrence, and she was the sister to Eva D. Lawrence who married the brother of Robert E. Lee Abbott. His brother was Samuel Randall Abbott.

Robert E. Lee Abbott was the son of William Augusta Abbott (not John Abbott). His mother was Nancy Jane Weems.

My great-grandfather, Silas, was the eldest son of William Augusta and Nancy Jane (Weems) Abbott.

For Robert's date of birth, I have 11-5-1872, Williamson Co., TX as place of birth (all the other children born there, except for Silas who was b. in AL or TN, and possibly brother, John Franklin Abbott b. 1865)since it was the end of the war, they probably didn't travel, but who knows...

Robert's wife, Melissa, died in 1903.
