He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sheila: sons, Eric Jason Nikkel and wife Kelly of San Marcos and Paul Ray Nikkel and wife Kris of Victorville; brothers John Nikkel of Fresno and Frank Nikkel of Phoenix; sister Gloria Sexton of Yucaipa; and grandchildren, Jessica Renee, Brandon Paul and Velondra Rose.
He was preceded in death by his mother Hilda Eryka Skope, his father John Wesley Nikkel and his sister Mary Nikkel.
Burial at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Cabrillo Memorial Drive, San Diego.
