Robert J. Babb Sr.

LIMESTONE -- Robert J. Babb Sr. of 5829 Leonard Run Road passed away Tuesday (June 3, 2008) in the Buffalo VA Medical Ceneter following a long battle with cancer.

Mr. Babb was born on June 15, 1947 in Olean, a son of Clifford and Clara Shoup Babb Jr. He married his wife, Mary Lou Blair, who survives, on June 14, 1981, in Allegany Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Babb grew up in the Limestone and Allegany areas. He servid in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1972, completing three toure of Vietnam. Mr. Babb worled in a number ofplaces including owning and operating Babb East State Auto. Most recently he worked at Zippo Manufacturing in Bradford, Pa., from 2003 to 2006 at which time he retired due to his illness.

He enjoyed singing, playing guitar, karaoke and spednign time with his grandchildren. Mr. Babb was also a lifetime member of the Allegany American Legion Post 892 and the Lincolnton, N.C., VFW Post 1706.

Surviving Mr. Babb besides his wife are sic children, Kim (Mike) Ballard, Robert (Kelly) Babb Jr., Tammy Babb, Jody (Megan) Babb, Tania (Bernard) Geist and Troy Babb; four stepchildren, Cheryl (Ronald) Babb, Scott Herron, Kevin Herron and Darnyl Babb; seven brothers, Randy (Naomi) Babb, Ronald (Cheryl) Babb, Jack (Carol) Babb, James (Janet) Babb, Clifford (Gail) Babb, Wayne (Diane) Babb and Brian (Alvena) Babb; six sisiters, Sandy (Charles) Crozier, Dawn (Robert) Bean, Joyce (Paul) Melfi, Linda (Shane) McGranaghan, Melody Green and Brenda Bailey; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Babb was predeceased by his mother and father and a brother (Larry (Kelly) Babb.

Burial with full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion Post 892 will be in Veteran's Fieldof Honor in Mount View Cemetery, Olean.
