Lester E. Barnes, 69, of Monticello died March 3, 1980 at his home. Funeral services will be at Mackey Funeral Home with burial in Monticello Cemetery.
Mr. Barnes was born June 3, 1910 in Centerville, s/o Wilmer and Clara Hannah Barnes. He married Irma Clodfelter September 22, 1940 at Grand Rapids MI. She survives along with his mother of Monticello; and a brother, Dale Sheets, of Monticello.
He was retired from the Corn Belt Hatchery and the U.S. Post Office in Monticello. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Monticello American Legion Post. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Kirby Hospital, Monticello.
