Nicholas J. Hein, 76, formerly of Manitowoc, died Tuesday evening, July 14, at Americana West Nursing Home, Green Bay. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. James Stamborski will officiate and burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Hein was born Dec. 5, 1904, at Manitowoc, son of the late Mathias and Mathilda Trost Hein. He resided in Manitowoc until two years ago when he moved to Green Bay. He married Evelyn Chapek Jan. 23, 1939, at St. Lukes Catholic Church, Two Rivers. She preceded him in death Aug. 18, 1976. Prior to his retirement due to illness, he had been a partner in the Stephanie Trupp Oil company for many years. He was a member of Old Timers Baseball Association of Manitowoc and Two Rivers, and a lifetime member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 706.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Patricia Hein of Green Bay; a daughter, Miss Joan Hein of Chicago; seven brothers, Clarence P., Anton, Matt, Walter, Joseph, Fritz and Marshall F. of Manitowoc; and four sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Catherine) Sieracki and Mrs. Alfred (Mary Jane) Mecca, Mrs. George (Margaret) Popp, and Mrs. Alois (Irene) Gadzinski, of Manitowoc. He was preceded in death by an infant son and four brothers.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday where Fraternal Order of Eagles will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. by Rev. James Stamborski.
