Lavon J. Thomas, passed away on April 20, 2008, after a brave battle with breast cancer. Lavon was born in Dallas on June 22, 1942, to parents Earl and Edna Tinney, and was the youngest of five sisters in the family. In 1945 the entire family moved to Broken Arrow where Lavon grew up and graduated from Union High School in 1960. She then worked for Sun Oil in downtown Tulsa until 1974, when she retired to be a housewife and mother. In recent years she has owned and operated The Yesterday Shop antique store in Sand Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Paul Thomas. She is survived by her son Rodney; stepchildren Paula Thomas Elbert and George Thomas; and her four sisters in Broken Arrow, Janice Thompson, Wanda Tinney, Norma Anderson and Carolyn Lee.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in the Mobley-Dodson Chapel with Rev. Ann LaMar officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park under the direction of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service.
