Craig D. "Bubba" Winans, 28, of Parkersburg, passed away June 5, 2008 at his residence after an eight year battle with cancer.

He was born May 3, 1980, a son of David F. and Jeannie Winans, and was brother to Adam W. Winans.

During his life, Craig was loved and supported by a tremendous number of friends. He loved fishing, hunting and all things outdoors.

Craig graduated from Parkersburg South High School in 1998, where he power lifted and played football. He also attended Glenville State from 1998-2000 on a football scholarship. He was diagnosed with cancer in January 2000, and graduated in 2005 from WVU-P with a BA in Business Management. He was an Assistant Coach at Parkersburg South during 2003-2004 and worked at RESA V as an adult education instructor.

Craig is survived by godson, Austin Frank Minter.

Craig was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Lloyd Winans and Jerry Caplinger officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to help defray medical and funeral expenses can be made to BB&T at the Gihon Village location only, to the "Jeannie Winans Special Benefit Account."
