Woman, 71, Dies at Home Near Elizabethtown-Funeral Rites Saturday.
Mrs. Adeline Akins, 71 years old, wife of Thomas Akins, died last night at 10 o'clock at the family home near Elizabethtown, following severe illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Elizabethtown Methodist church. Burial will be in Garland Brook cemetery.
Mrs. Akins was born in Jennings county, the daughter of Thomas and Harriett Dixon and was the last of twelve children in the family. In 1877 she was married to Mr. Akins and following their marriage they located in this county and were well known. For 20 years Mrs. Akins had been an invalid but her condition did not become critical until about eight months ago.
Mrs. Akins was a well-liked woman and had many friends. She was the mother of four children, Walter Akins, of Seymour; Mrs. Maud Hammond, of Elizabethtown; Mrs. Alice Cook of Azalia, and Frank Akins, who died a number of years ago. There are also 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the United Brethren church and as long as her health permitted was a regular attendant.
