Stina came to the U. S. with her parents and siblings in 1865 at age 11.

Stina and Sever Hofland were married May 18, 1875, in Mona, Iowa. Sever was born November 10, 1845, in Sogndal, Norway. He came to Stoughton, WI, when he was 21 and then moved to Mona, Iowa. Sever and Stina came to Somerset, St. Croix County, WI, and they also resided in Stanton Township, Baldwin, Wheeler and lastly Star Prairie. Their children were Adolph, Oliver, George and Myrtle Tiegen (Reeder ND), Ed (Nye), Mrs. Ingvald Knutson (New Richmond WI), and Mrs. Clarence Johnson and Carl (Star Prairie),
