Leland died from a heart attack. He was found in front of the cows in the barn on the family homestead in Sprakers, NY. He died with his boots on, which was his wish.

The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Lenz funeral home here, the Rev. Harry A. Elizson, pastor of the Currytown Reformed Church, officiating.

Interment will be made in the Johnstown Cemetery.

He was born May 29, 1881 in Stratford, NY, the son of Alonzo and Alice Seeley Monk.

He had made his home in Sprakers the last 25 years where he operated a farm.

A son, Alton Monk, survives in Sprakers, and other members of his family are one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Alwilda) Getman, Nelliston, three brothers, Floyd, Johnstown, Claude, Bleeker, and Harold, San Diego, Cal.; one sister, Mrs Earl (Grace) Bradley, San Diego, Cal., and six grandchildren.

EVENING RECORDER, AMSTERDAM, N. Y., THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4, 1947 ~ Funeral of Leland Monk ~ The funeral of Leland Monk, Sprakers, took place yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Lenz Funeral Home, with interment in Johnstown Cemetery.

Rites were conducted by the Rev. Harry A. Eliason, pastor of the Currytown Reformed Church, and bearers were Arthur Wrobel, Frasier Meade, Charles Darrow and Perle Hazzard, neighbors of the deceased.

Mr. Monk, who was 66, had made his home in Sprakers during the last 25 years operating a farm.
