The many friends of Mrs. Rosalie Ferguson in Sonora was grieved to learn of her sudden death in San Francisco Wednesday afternoon. She was enjoying good health considering that she was 84 years of age.
At 10 o'clock Wednesday mourning her exceptional vitality gave way and she was stricken remaining unconscious to the end. Mrs. Ferguson was one of Sonora's most beloved women who spent the greater part of her life with us. She was one of the most kindly and benevolent women, and many kind deeds remain fresh in the memory of those she befriended when Sonora was her home. At one time she owned and carried on the business of the Gold Mt. Water Company, a concern prior to his death operated by her husband, the late John Ferguson, which supplied Sonora with water for domestic uses. Later she disposed of the business to the San Francisco-Sierra Power Co. Of which the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. is now operating. After the sale she removed to San Francisco where since she has resided but always kept a warm spot in her heart for her old home.
She was the mother of a large family, five of whom are living to mourn the loss of a good mother. They are Mrs. Nettie Hadsell, Ben, Frank and John Ferguson, and Miss Ruth Ferguson, all residents of the bay region. She also is survived by a sister, Mrs. Julia Nicol, residing in San Francisco. The funeral is to be held in that city.
