LESLIE NAGG

Leslie Edward

Nagg, Jr.

Leslie Edward Nagg, Jr., age 75, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord, after passing away suddenly on June 7, 2008.

Les enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. He was born on December 28, 1932 in Brownsville, PA to the late Leslie E. Nagg, Sr. and Pauline (Boring) Nagg. He graduated from Brownsville High School and then went on to play football at California State Teachers College. Les was a two-way starter, at middle linebacker and center. As a freshman, he led California State Teachers College, now known as the University of California at Pennsylvania, to its only bowl game in school history. He was later inducted into the school's Athletics Hall of Fame in 1996. Les then took a break from school and joined the U.S. Army where he served his country from 1951-1953 with the 82nd Airborne, during the Korean War. After completing his tour of duty, Les returned to California State Teachers College where he received his Bachelors Degree in education. He then went on to the University of West Virginia where he received his Masters Degree. After graduation, Les began his teaching career at East Huntington, PA before accepting a similar teaching position in Delaware. He then spent the next 31 years at George Reed Middle School holding positions as teacher and guidance counselor. After retiring in 1996, he enjoyed traveling to Disney World in Orlando, playing with his daughter's miniature schnauzer, and going to the Senior Center in Newark for good times and fellowship. He was a wonderful father, provider, and man. He will be sorely missed.

Les is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Emma J. "Sue" Nagg; daughter, Darcy Burbage and her husband, John of Wilmington, DE; son, Roak B. Nagg of Newark, DE; brothers, Tom Nagg and his wife, Bette and Jim Nagg all of Brownsville, PA; sister-in-law, Jackie Nagg of Harrisburg, PA; many nieces and nephews; and his granddog, Gretel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Nagg and sister, Kris Bravar.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm, on Wednesday, June 11, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, on Tuesday, June 10, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Newark Senior Center, 200 White Chapel Drive, Newark, DE 19713.
