Son of Alanson & Eva Albro. Retired 12 days before he died after a total of 26 years as Chief of Police in West Greenwich. He was known to hundreds as "Uncle Jim." Was on police force in Coventry for years. One of 5 brothers, of which one survives John Sr.. He lost two brothers within two months of each other this year. Dexter died April 5, 1960 while at his winter home in Florida, and Thurston Albro, former Kent County Deputy Sheriff, died June 20, 1960 while driving his car in Warwick. Another brother Daniel died Nov. 2, 1942 at his brother's store. All died suddenly with heart attacks. His first wife Eva May Andrews died in 1933, his son James died in 1920 at the age of 2 1/2, his son Edwin died in 1921 at age 10 and son Albert died in 1941 at age 22. He married Alida (former wife of his brother Thurston) and became step-father to 6 of his nieces and nephews.
