He was a native and lifelong resident of Lauderdale County and a member of Mount Zion Church of Christ and Carpenters Local 109. He had been an employee of International Minerals, Chemicals and Fertilizer for the past 20 years.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Church of Christ with Robert Huffaker officiating. Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery, Greenview Funeral Home, Florence, directing.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Mary Edna Watkins, Florence; sons, Robert D. Watkins, Anthony Watkins, both of Florence; daughters, Donna Parker, Waterloo, Paula Stevenson, Florence; brothers, James W. Watkins, Thomas Watkins, Buford Watkins, All of Florence; sisters, Marie Watkins, Lucille Cummings, Margaret Bradford, all of Florence; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
