BRANT LAKE - Bertha G. Duell, 95, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness.

Born April 2, 1909, in Chestertown, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Morehouse) Twiss.

Mrs. Duell was a longtime member of the Brant Lake Wesleyan Church.

She enjoyed crocheting and gardening.

Mrs. Duell will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother.

The family would like to thank William Orluk, physician assistant of Chester Health Center and the nursing staff on 3C at Glens Falls Hospital for their kindness and care.

Mrs. Duell was predeceased by her husband, Orville S. Duell, who died Dec. 31, 1980; they had been married for 50 years. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Charles Twiss and Floyd Twiss; and seven sisters: Laura Millington, Gertrude Orcutt-Ritton, Ruth Carnright, Alma Jay-Maybe, Grace Burt, Ethel Ovitt, and Bessie Hill.

Survivors include one son, and one daughter, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services and calling hours are private.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, 9 Pine St., Chestertown.
