He is survived by his wife, Rita; his son, John M. McGann II; his stepson, Brad Burt; his brothers, Patrick J. (Marita) McGann and James K. (Wanda) McGann; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James M. McGann; a sister, Mary Margaret Day and a brother, Robert F. McGann.
He served in the United States Army during World War II in Italy, Germany, Africa, New Guinea and the Philippines. He was awarded the Battlefield Commission, Purple Heart, several Oak Leaf Clusters and several medals and citations from the Department of the Army. He rose to the rank of Major. He also served in the Korean War.
For many years, he served as assistant to the president of W.D. Manor Co. Inc., one of the largest mechanical contractors in Phoenix, Ariz.
