Funeral services for B.J. Wofford, 83, of Lockney were held Friday, March 4, 2005 at the West College and Third Street Church of Christ in Lockney. Frank Duckworth officiated and Steve McLean assisted. Burial was in the Lockney Cemetery under the direction of Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Lockney.

Mr. Wofford died March 2, 2005 at his residence in Lockney.

He was born June 12, 1921 in Lockney to the late Luther and Mamie Wofford. He moved from Lockney to Dallas in 1971 and moved back to Lockney in 1986. He married Gay Lambert on April 3, 1971 in Plainview. He was Merchant Marine during WWII and was a tire salesman for Sears until he retired in 1986. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd, Leon and Charles Wofford; two sisters, Una Fay Whitfill and Wynonna Allison.

Survivors include his wife, Gay Wofford of Lockney; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Jake and Sue Wofford of Humble; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Richard and Peggy Lambert of Lockney; one stepdaughter, Gay Green of Dallas; one sister, Gwendolyn McPherson of Midland; one brother-in-law, Charles Whitfill of Silverton; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Hospice Hands of West Texas, P.O. Box 1118, Lockney, Texas 79241.
