Mrs. O.A. Barkley Dies After Severe Illness
Minnie Bell Ferguson, was born near Cornersville, Mississippi, October 15, 1880, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ferguson. She died July 28, 1942 at the age of 61 years. At the age of 17 she was converted and joined the Baptist church living the rest of her life as a devoted Christian. She was united in marriage to Oscar Lee Barkley, near Greenville, Texas in 1902. To this union were born seven children. Four sons, Homer Barkley, Mountain View; Hershel Barkley, Porterville, Calif.; Ray Barkley in the U.S. Army on foreign duty; Orville Barkley, U.S. Army, Camp Hood, Temple, Texas. Three daughters, Mrs. H.L. Adkisson, of Mountain View; Mrs. A.J. Flippin, Cheyenne, and Mrs. A.C. Black, Talent, Oregon. Other survivors include one brother, Lee Ferguson of Searcy, Ark.; five sisters, Lena Ferguson, Akron, Ohio; Lula Woodell and Annie Armnstrong of Flint, Mich.; Retta Childress and Etta Skeleton of Binger; and seven grandchildren. Her husband passed away two months ago.
