MICHAEL JOSEPH FALZONE, 24, of LITTLE EGG HARBOR, passed away Saturday, June 7, at The North Chicago Veterans Affairs Medical Center, N. Chicago, Ill. Born in Bridgeport, Pa. He lived there until moving to Little Egg Harbor 22 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, Little Egg Harbor. Michael graduated from Pinelands High School, then went on to receive an Associates degree at York College, Pa. Damage Control Fireman Apprentice Michael Joseph Falzone died while on performance of his duties on June 7, 2008 in Great Lakes Training Support Center Illinois. He enlisted Oct. 7, 2007, began Boot Camp March 11, 2008, graduated from recruit training center May 7, 2008, part of Division 175, Ship 14, USS Arizona and was advanced to Damage Control Fireman Apprentice on March 10, 2008. He dedicated himself as a Damage Control Firefighter to our Navy and our great country. By so doing, he earned the respect, trust and love of his shipmates. Together with his family, his shipmates and friends — we mourn the loss of this good man. Although our hearts ache and we will miss him, we thank God for the time we had. We also thank Damage Control Fireman Apprentice Michael Joseph Falzone's family for sharing their son and brother with us — he touched each of us and made a lasting impression on our lives. As we say good-bye to our beloved shipmate, we take comfort in the knowledge that he lived every day to the fullest and left behind a legacy of dedicated service any man could be proud of. In closing, I will now give my last order to Damage Control Fire Apprentice Michael Joseph Falzone: "Sailor—rest your oars." Michael was a Loving Son, Little Brother, Playful Uncle, and Cherished Brother-In-Law, proud Godfather and good friend to many.

He was predeceased by his brother, "Markie Falzone Jr." Michael is survived by his loving parents, Mark and Dorisanne of Little Egg Harbor; a brother, Joseph of Ft. Myers, Fla.; a sister, Danielle Meola and her husband Frank Jr. of Little Egg Harbor; three beautiful nieces, Gianna, Nina, and Elianna; his paternal grandmother, Teresa Bello of Conshohocken, Pa.; his paternal grandfather, Joseph Falzone of Hollywood, Fla.; his uncles, Terry Polichetti and Tony Bello, his "godfather"; his five aunts, Joselle Kurkowski, Maria Colletti, Roseanne Mignona, his "godmother", Tina Benz, and Cynthia Taylor; and many cousins.

He was so kind hearted and will be missed by all.
