Carl Allen Smith ,Jr. of Godby Lane,Science Hill died Saturday,Jan.1,2000, at Mt.Carmel West Hospital.Columbus ,Ohio. He was 56.
He was born in the Beech Grove community Aug.16,1943;son of Carl Allen Smith,ohio,and the late Opal Christine Hall Dawes.He was a truck driver ,a race car driver and a member of The Beech Grove Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Helen Keith Smith,whom he married May 12,1984,His father ;four sons,Richard Alan;Carl Dewayne;Christopher Allen and Carl Douglas ; a daughther ,Carla Marie.A brother Kenneth Ray Dawes,Johnson,Tenn.Two sisters,Katherine Lucille Martian,Lafayette,La.and Linda Kay Allen,Someret.Two grandchildren Rachel Denean Smith and Richard Cody Smith.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father,Huey Dawes;two brothers,Larry Russell Hall and Marvin Eugene Dawes and a sister Sandra Gail Dawes.
Funeral services were held Wed.,Jan.5,at the Chapel of Morris Hislope Funeral Home with Bros. Junior Phillips and Edmond Vanhook officiating.
Burial was in the Beech Grove Cemetery.
