Katherine Ann Harris Abel age 55, of Cedar Hill, TX, went home to be with our Savior on June 3, 2008.
Kathy was born on September 15, 1952 in Dallas, TX.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Sam Abel, and their 3 children, Angela Abel of Alvarado, TX, Sam Abel Jr. of Wylie, TX, and Tami (Abel) & Wayne Scott of Justin, TX, and 6-1/2 grandchildren, Kayla, Matthew, Jordan, Kadaen, Kylea, Kameron, and one on the way; Kathy's parents, James "Corky" and Joan Harris of Dallas, her brother, wife and family, Phil & Darcy Harris, and her sister, husband and family Debbie (Harris) and Johnny Hill of Saginaw, TX and numerous other relatives that she dearly loves.
Kathy's favorite hobby is watching and learning from her grandchildren. Kathy and Sam always enjoyed water sports & vacationing in South Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Florida.
Kathy was a great mother, grandmother, and wife to her husband Sam. Kathy was a 5 year, answer to prayer, survivor of lung cancer, and an 8 month answer to prayer, survivor of brain cancer.
Her Church family, from First Baptist Church of Cedar Hill, and many family members and friends have comforted Kathy with prayer and support for these 5 years.
Kathy was a graduate of Kimball HS in Dallas, 1970. She volunteered many years with PTA at Stemmons Elem. School.
Kathy worked at Dresser Industries and with Dr Hsu & Dr Huang at Charlton for 19 years before her medical retirement in 2004.
Kathy lived in Cedar Hill for 21 years.
The services to celebrate and thank God for placing her in our lives will be at First Baptist Church of Cedar Hill, TX on Saturday June 7, 2008 at 11:00 am.
A Graveside service will follow later at (2:30 pm) at Restland Memorial Park, 9220 Restland Rd, Dallas, TX 75201.
There will be a viewing on Friday June 6, 2008 from 6-8 pm at Jaynes Memorial Chapel, Duncanville, TX.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
