Kyle, stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, died June 4, 2008. He was 21 years old. Kyle was born in Waxahachie, Texas, on January 1, 1987, to Jayson Earl Sr. and Sammie Kay (Kelley)Yother. At the time of his death he was serving in the United States Army and had just returned from a 15 month tour in Iraq. During that time, he was honored by numerous awards including: Army Commendation Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, Overseas Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Badge and he received Combat Spurs. Since May 2008 he was assigned to the 15th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. Kyle was "Favorite Soldier" for the 5th grade LEAP class at Hebron Valley Elementary School.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Sammie and Brannon Adkisson; one brother, Jayson Earl Yother, Jr.; one sister, Kelley Anne Yother, all of Corinth, Texas; maternal grandmother, Patricia Jo McCulloch of Waxahachie; paternal grandmother, Jo Rogers of Ennis; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Kyle was preceded in death by his father, Jayson Yother Sr.; his paternal grandfather, J.T. Yother, Sr. and his maternal granfather, Sam Houston Kelley. Interment was at the Waxahachie City Cemetery, Waxahachie, Texas.
