Funeral Services for E. Arnold, 82
Funeral services for Mr. Ed Arnold, 82, were held at 2 pm Friday at the United Memorial Methodist Church, with the Rev. Quincy Murphree officiating.
Pall bearers were all nephews of the deceased, Robert Arnold, Edwin Arnold, Clarence Drummond, Willard Drummond, Harold Hale and Earl Hale.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Richard Appleby and Mrs. Dwight Long, accompanied by Miss Beverly Sandquist. Burial was in the Lyons Cemetery with Piper Service in charge.
Edwin Willard Arnold, son of Anthony and Emma Arnold, was born Nov. 6, 1886 in Orrville, Ohio, but lived most of his life in Nebraska, and Burt County, where he attended country schools and grew to manhood. He was connected with farming all of his life until retiring about six years ago.
Mr. Arnold lived in Lyons after retirement and spent much of the past two years in and out of the hospital. He recently entered the Dodge Nursing Home, where he suffered a broken leg in a fall, and had entered the West Point hospital last week end, where he died on Tuesday, June 17, 1969.
He was one of a family of twelve brothers and sisters and was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence and Johnny, and three sisters, Mrs. Charles Drummond, Mrs. Edgar Hale and Mrs. William Drummond.
Survivors include three brothers, Forrest of Lyons, Merle of Walthill and Harry of Craig; three sisters, Mrs. Stella Barnhill of Alburquerque, N. Mex., Emma Arnold of Amarillo, Tex., and Mrs. Don (Hazel) Mason of Portland, Ore., and a host of other relatives and friends.
