J.B. Albright, age 84, Eubank, passed away Tuesday, April 7, at Humana Hospital Lake Cumberland following a lengthy illness.

Born February 6, 1908, in Broadhead, KY., he was a son of the late Arch and Birdie Harp Albright.

Survivors include his wife, Violet Sowders Albright, whom he married on August 2, 1986; two step-daughters, Phyllis Zirkle and Wanda Fisher, both of Springfield, Ohio; a brother, Dr. Guy W. Albright, Louisville; and two sisters, Carter Hoskins and Lucille Purcell, both of Brodhead.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Mildred McClure, whom he married on Nov. 28, 1935, and who passed away Feb. 23, 1985.

Albright was a teacher and school administrator, member of Retired Teachers Association and a Kentucky Colonel. He graduated from Brodhead High School, attended Eastern State Teachers College and graduated from Union College, Barbourville, Class of 1934. He taught school in Rockcastle County for six years. Albright came to Eubank in 1934 as a teacher and coach. He became principal in 1939 and was principal until 1965 except for a few years when he worked at Wolf Creek Dam. He retired as principal of Eubank Elementary in 1971. Albright was a member of Eubank Baptist Church for 57 years.

Funeral services will be held Thursday April 9, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Jones and Rev. Wilbur Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in Eubank Cemetery.
