ETTERS - Geary W. Huntsberger, 81, of Newberry Township, died at 11:24 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Rosemary (Cheniae) Huntsberger, to whom he was married for 58 years.

The service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Am bassadors Bible Chapel, 3000 York Haven Road, Manchester. Burial will be in Fetrow Cemetery in Newberry Township. Viewings will be 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at William E. Little Funeral Home, 60 S. Main St., Manchester, and noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. His pastor, the Rev. Richard Stambaugh, will of ficiate.

Mr. Huntsberger was born Nov. 2, 1920, in Etters. He was the son of the late Cameron J. and Frances (Bamberger) Huntsberger.

He was a machinist instructor and had been a master grain farmer for 60 years. He received the Master Farmer Award from Pennsylvania Farmer Magazine and Penn State University Agricultural Extension Service in 1979; served on the York County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service Committee; was appointed chairman of the Pennsylvania State ASCS Commit tee; and received the Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award from Pennsylvania Farmers Association in 1989, AgriBusiness Award from York County Chamber of Commerce in 1993, and Outstanding Service to Agriculture Award from York County Farmers Association in 1988. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II; president of Fetrow Cemetery Association; a former chairman of Northern York County Sewer Au thority; secretary of Newberry Township School Board; served on Newberry Township Zoning Hearing Board; was a member of Southern Pennsylvania Bank Advisory Board, Farmer Political Action Committee, Pennsylvania AG Republicans, York County and West Shore chambers of commerce, York County Agri-Business Committee, York County Farmers Association, 19th District Internship Association, Agway Board of Directors, Hawk Gunning Club, Goldsboro Fireman's Club and VFW Post 537; and attended Ambas sadors Bible Chapel.

Mr. Huntsberger also is survived by two sons, Geary Joe Huntsberger and J. Robert Huntsberger, both of Etters; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

"He was an outstanding farmer, a good neighbor in every sense of the word," said Robert Williams, a former editor of Pennsylvania Farmer. "He was on a first-name basis with congressmen and senators; they sought out his opinion on things like drought, corn prices.

"He farmed for a number of years on Three Mile Island. He was the only farmer I knew who had a barge."

Huntsberger received the Pennsylvania Farmers Association's Distinguished Service to Agriculture award in 1989, the AgriBusiness Award from the York County Chamber of Commerce in 1993 and the York County Farmers Association's Outstanding Service to Agriculture award in 1988.

He had served as secretary of the former Newberry Twp. School Board; was a member of the township Zoning Hearing Board; former chairman of the Northern York County Sewer Authority; president of the Fetrow Cemetery Association; and a member of the Southern Pennsylvania Bank advisory board and the Agway board of directors.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II; a member of the Farmers Political Action Committee, Pennsylvania AG Republicans, York County and West Shore chambers of commerce, York County Agri-Business Committee, York County Farmers Association, 19th District Internship Association, Hawk Gunning Club and Goldsboro Fireman's Club; and attended Ambassadors Bible Chapel, Manchester.
