"Mrs. J. F. Gould. Anna Amelia Bergmann was born near Berlin, Germany on October 29, 1871, and came to this country with her parents at the age of nine. The family located at Watertown where she spent her youth.
On January 26, 1890, she was married to Joshua F. Gould at Oldham, South Dakota, where they made their home for about 12 years. From there they moved to Jamestown, N.D., where they lived until 1906. They took up residence in Barron county until 1933, when they moved to Danbury, where they lived until the present time. However, one year of this time was spent in Oregon operating a general store.
She was in rather poor health for the past year, and confined to her bed most of the last month. She died Saturday evening, September 20, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Wilson of Webster.
Surviving are her husband and nine children: Hugo O. of Milwaukee, Lillian H. (Mrs. Charles Wilson of Webster), Earl E. of Barron, Effie J. (Mrs. Ed Zemke) of Prairie Farm, George A. of Webster, Jewel F. of Barron, Helen M. (Mrs. Lloyd Kurschner) of Minneapolis. Preceding her in death were Alvin C., age 9 months and Guy H., age 21 years, also infant twins, a boy and a girl, who lived but a short time. She also leaves 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, two brothers, Carl Bergmann, Tomah, and Albert Bergmann, Oconomowoc: three sisters, Mina Ewald of Seattle, Wash., Rika Lehrke of Whitehall, and Bertha Thill of Clayton, Wis.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church of Barron, L.H. Solomon, pastor. Rev. Frank Holmes, pastor of the Gospel Tabernacle of Siren, was in charge of the services and was assisted by Rev. Solomon. Out-of-town relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bergmann of Tomah, Mrs. Rika Lehrke of Whitehall, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Marchall of Amery, Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Detrich of Campla, and Mr. and Mrs. Noble Pluntz of Haugen."
