"Called Home.....Died at Austin, 9 o'clock, Sunday night, July 31st, little Silas John Howell, Spring Creek, aged 10 years, 6 months and three days, after a week of intense suffering, which he bore with patient fortitude.
Silar was a bright, affectionate boy, and the grief of the parents, brothers and sisters has so solace except that his spirit has gone where there is no pain and where God "wipes away all tears from our eyes."
The funeral services were appropriately conducted by Elder Ewing, who taught the consoling lesson that 'of such is the kingdom of Heaven The reunion in eternity seems far off to our finite minds, but with God, a though sand years are but as a single day. May we all so live that we can appreciate this hope of one day being again with loved ones who have gone before. The parents are Christians and they realize the comfort of the divine promises."
