Ward Allen, Jr., age 81 of Charleston, passed away on Monday (June 9, 2008) at Charleston Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was united in marriage to Leona Keigley on May 7, 1947 in Morganfield, Kentucky.

Surviving family members include Leona, two children, Robert "Bob" (Gloria) Allen and Karen (Randy) Jennings, two grandsons, Jason Allen (Amy) Jennings and Brian Lee (Jessie)Jennings, two great-grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Hughes and several nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents Ward was preceded by two sisters, June Knight and Eileen Bunch, a granddaughter, Hannah Marie Jennings and two nephews.

Ward was a US Army Veteran proudly serving his country during WWII. He was a thirty year employee of Anamet in Mattoon and was also the "man behind the scenes" moonlighting for various area movie theaters and drive-in theaters working as their projectionist.
