Mary Jane Elizabeth Dreager was the first born child of Guy Carlton Harding (1891-1961) and Lydia Elizabeth Alexander (1900-1955).

As a young girl, Mary Jane grew up in Oklahoma and Kansas, before joining her father in Wisconsin following her parents' divorce. It was in Wisconsin that Mary Jane married Frederick "Fritz" John Draeger (1916-2004) on the 4 May 1941 in Pewaukee, Waukesha Co., Wisconsin. Mary Jane and Fritz had two daughters, Sandra and Riki, in their sixty-three years of marraige.

One of Mary Jane's many passions in life was researching her family's genealogy, and sharing it with many (particularly relatives) through letters and the internet.

Mary Jane passed away at the age of 88 on May 16, 2008. She was buried on May 20, 2008 at Prairie Home Cemetery, where her husband, who preceded her in death four years earlier, was also buried.
