Lennie Lenora Whitten Strickland was born September 15, 1876 in DeSoto County, Mississippi to Cynthia Alice Dodds and Marion DeKalb Whitten. She died September 14, 1954 in Dallas, Texas. She married William B. Strickland in 1905 in Paris, Texas. She was preceeded in death by her husband, William Strickland and son, Hary Strickland. Mrs. Strickland was survived by sons Norris C. Strickland, Marion Strickland, and Jack Strickland; daughters, Katherine Strickland Shelley, and Frances Louise Strickland Scott. Also surviving were nine grandchildren, Billie Norris Strickland, Robert Strickland, Gail Wooldridge Brooks, Marilyn Strickland Strube, Mark Strickland, David Strickland, Carole Scott Craft, Steven Jill Scott Phelps, and Craig Scott. The Stricklands made their first home in Paris, Texas later moving to Dallas, Texas where they resided for several years.
