Opal Green was a railroad engineer. He worked for L & N for 50 years until his retirement in 1968. When the L & N Railroad donated the train to the Evansville Museum, Opal was the conductor who brought it to its current site.

Opal was married to Beulah M. Green for 57 years. They had one son, Robert O. Green.

He and his brother, Dwight O. Green were married to sisters, Beulah and Mary Jane. Dwight, or D.O. also worked for the railroad. Opal also had another brother, Vere who worked for L & N.

Opal was a member of First Baptist Church in Evansville.
