MISHAWAKA OBITUARY.

Mrs. Bertha Luelia Updike.
After an illness of several years,
Mrs. Bertha Luella Updike, 74, of
124 S. Merrifield Ave. died at
4:15 a.m. today in St. Joseph's
Hospital. She was born in Aurora,
Ill., and had lived in Mishawaka
for the last 25 years. As Bertha
Hight she married Arthur Updike
in Aurora, [Ill.] in 1905. He died
in 1926.
Surviving are one daughter,
Mrs. Orley [Viola Mae] Kizer, of
Mishawaka and one son,
Ellis M. Updike, of Mishawaka: three
granddaughters and one grandson.
Mrs. Updike was a member of the
First Baptist Church and of the
Daughters of Union Veterans,
St. Cloud, Fla., Tent. Friends
may call in the Bent & Sprague
funeral chapel after noon
Wednesday.
