Mr. Hoshor arrived in Missouri from Ohio in 1859. He settled in Andrew County near Fillmore, Missouri where he took up farming with his brother John Mathias Hoshor. In 1876 he settled on a farm of 1000 acres located 2 miles southeast of Maryville which remained the family home at the time of his death.

Mr. Hoshor married Miss Anna Lincoln in Fillmore on July 26, 1866. She is a second cousin of Abraham Lincoln the former president of the United States. From this union they had 5 children: John L. Hoshor of Colorado; George W. Hoshor of St Joseph, Missouri; Otis W. Hoshor of Maryville,; Mrs Eva Stock, wife of Joseph Stock of Kansas City; and Ina wife of Guy Gray of Minco, Oklahoma.
