Lemuel Lucore III, eldest child of Rispah and Lemuel Lucore II, was born in Southampton, Hampshire Co. Mass.
Both his parents were born in Mass. His father died 3 Jan 1816 at Williamsburg, Hampshire Co. MA and Lemuel III, at age 19, became head of family which included his mother, Rispah, and his 8 younger siblings: Warren(1799-?after 1848, Mary(1801-1842), Stephen(1803-1848), Freelove(1805-1877), Luther(1807-1896), Susanna(1809-1896), Rufus Hurlbut(1812-1863)and Moses Crow(1814-1863).

In 1820, Lemuel lived in McKean Co. PA with his birth family where he married Rebecca Bliss, daughter of Rev. John Bliss, on 18 Dec 1821. Together they had 10 children over the next 22 years: Sabra (1823-1828), Wealthy Ann (1824-1863),Clara Curtis (1826-1890), Lemuel IV (1828-1896), Allen (1830-1837), Melissa (1832-1917), Alva M. (1835-1917), James Bassett (1837-1907), Mary Reliance (1842-?), Ella Rebecca (1845-1928).
All were born in Shippen Township, McKean, PA except my ancestor, Ella Rebecca Lucore, who was born in Emporiumn, McKean Co. PA on 6 May 1845.

Three siblings of Lemuel Lucore III also married into the Bliss family:
Mary("Polly")Lucore m. Jeremiah Bliss(date unknown, Stephen Lucore m. Elizabeth Bliss(2 Oct 1825),Freelove Lucore m. Arnold Bliss(22 Dec 1825).

By 1860, Lemuel and Rebecca with 3 children still at home lived in Marion, Linn Co. Iowa. Lemuel, at 63, was still farming. At home was: James Bassett ("Bassett J.") age 22, Mary Reliance, age 17 and Ella Rebecca, age 15.

In 1870 Lemuel and Rebeca, ages 72 and 68, lived in Canton, Benton Co. Iowa with daughter Ella Rebecca and her husband (Joel) Gordon Viles (Voiles).
In 1879 Lemuel died on 9 Jan at the residence of his son Bassett, his wife also died there 18 Feb 1883.

Lemuel Lucore III Obituary:
"Lemuel died January 9th 1879 at the residence of his son, B.J. Lucore, West Cedar Rapids, Lemuel Lucore, aged 81 years, 3 months, 10 days. Mr. Lucore was a native of Massachusetts, but moved to McKean county, Pennsylvania, in 1819, where he married Rebecca Bliss in 1821, who was his helpmeet for over fifty-seven years and who still survives him. Ten children were the fruit of this union, seven of whom are still living. In 1855 Mr. L. came to Linn county where he has resided ever since. 'Uncle Lem' as he was familiarly called, was a fine representative of the rugged, sturdy pioneer. He was able to do a full day's work until six years ago, when he came to Cedar Rapids to reside with his son. He had but few enemies; was generous, genial and pleasant in his intercourse with his fellows, and his hearty, cheerful salutations will be sadly missed by those who were accustomed to hear his friendly greetings. His sister Mrs. Joseph Hollan, of our city, and one brother in Pennsylvania, are all that are left of the family of nine. Uncle Lucore was a great sufferer during his last illness, but he bore it with heroic patience and without a murmur of complaint."
